Why You Should Be Excited for Awake: Part 2

Relatively Large Fan Base
The fact that there is already about 5 Twitter pages and a podcast dedicated to Awake, is very exciting news for us, the fans, and the executives at NBC. This large fan base is very good for its 'anticipation buzz' and will most likely play a role in the renewal/cancellation decision in May. To tweet about Awake, use the hashtag #NBCAwake so we can all see who's tweeting about Awake.

Most of this information will be integrated into the next post about the high anticipation.

There is still no premiere date for Awake yet, but the date is expected to be announced within a month.

Why You Should Be Excited for Awake: Part 1

1. Not a "One Word" Description
People can't classify Awake in one word that explains a majority of the story. It must be explained at least two or three more sentences to start making sense. Once you pick up on the base of the storyline, it should be simple to follow. Because it takes more time to think it through and understand it, it should be much easier to remember. Because of this, the ratings should be much higher. Higher ratings= more seasons.

Valderrama and Isaacs at the 2011 Satellite Awards (TYPE 1 SPOILER)

This year, Wilmer Valderrama and Jason Isaacs went to the 2011 Satellite Awards for Jason Isaacs' Nomination  for "Best Actor in a Miniseries or a Motion Picture Made for Television" for his recent film Case Histories. While there, Misty Kingma, a reporter for Mingle Media TV, interviewed them and I found that it revealed quite a bit.

In the title of this post, if you noticed, I put that this was a type 1 spoiler. The spoiler system for me goes as follows...

Type 1..............Minor/Doesn't Reveal Much
Type 2..............Still Minor, can lead to some predictability
Type 3..............A Little Bit Bigger, usually more direct
Type 4..............Will tell you the basic outcome of 1-2 story lines
Type 5.............Large Spoiler, will give basic outcome for many story lines

Awake: Official NBC Trailer

Please share this with everybody on Twitter and Facebook, so Awake may be well-known and anticipated. Let's make the producers and NBC proud of their fans.

As of now, there is still no premiere date set by NBC yet, but, again, it is expected to premiere in March.

Jacob's Ladder Pre-Episode 1

So as some of you may know, I have a section on The Awake Podcast where I e-mail in my thoughts and theories. A lot of this is in reply to previous podcasts, so make sure that you have listened to their first podcast.

Quick Thoughts
  • Really excited for this, very excited that networks are doing their best to keep shallow comedies and sallow reality shows from running the TV market.
  • If the show is anything like the trailer, I have a really good reason to be excited.
  • Reply to Gab's comment that he will have problems with having no sleep. I think that when he is in his other reality, his body is recharging in sleep. I think you were implying that he will be using the same body in both realities, when I think that he will be using two bodies, but his conscious switches realities.
Yes I do have a theory already. So, what if his son and his wife didn't die, but him? He is just experiencing these alternate realities in the afterlife, and his mind is creating a physical look and feel to it for him to better understand it (Inception anyone). This theory, after a bit of research, is quite a popular theory. I really do hope that my theory is not right for the sake of the story line. It also contradicts all of my other thoughts on this subject.
1. How will the network treat this "The Event" and "Flash Forward" type show?
2. What are the rules for the reality switching? What happens if he takes an afternoon nap or get woken up in the middle of the night for the same emergency in both realities.
Final Note
Time will tell. Although we could go on and on based on what the trailer gives us, we do need time to sleep. The wait to March will be very long, still no premiere date though. Time will also tell if Dave's "breath of death" is still lethal.

You can hear Maz and Gab (the hosts of The Awake Podcast) read and discuss this on this week's podcast of The Awake Podcast on iTunes and

What Other TV Do You Watch?

I see that there are many people all across the board that are really anticipating Awake's premiere. People that like crime dramas, sci-fi, and general dramas are rushing over to this show looking for a new Lost or 24. This doesn't surprise me as this is what happened with The Event and Flash Forward, but people that are into comedies and reality shows are interested by the premise of the show.

So I ask you today, what other TV shows do you watch, and are they part of the reason that you are interested in Awake?

The Awake Podcast

There are many ways for us, fans, to express our ideas about a certain show. Podcasts are among my favorite. No, I don't podcast, but I know of two very good podcasters that podcast about "Awake". They are "The Awake Podcast" and can be found on iTunes or at The two hosts have 2 previous podcasts of experience (both which got cancelled after 1 season- Flash Foreword and The Event). They are on Twitter @AwakePodcast and Facebook "The Awake Podcast".

The other great part about this podcast, is that I have my own section where I e-mail in thoughts and theories. Every once in a while, I will include one of the theories that you guys sent in, to e-mail to the podcast.

Producers Break UPDATE

I have received information from producers and more articles approved to be accurate regarding the writers' break. They are now back in production, after a minor hiatus. Deadline reports that it "is being done upon request from Awake creator/executive producer Kyle Killen and executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon", and is  "to plot out the rest of the series’ first season".

This break was said to be "not expensive, but well worth it for the plot". There is still no premiere date set in stone yet, but the end of this break will really simplify things for NBC and the producers. I will keep posting with further information, in the meantime you can read the Deadline article regarding the situation. Deadline: NBC's Midseason Drama 'Awake' Stops Production To Work on Scripts

Premiere Situation

Over this past day, I have been seeing a lot of confusion on what's going on with the show's production and premiere date. After reading a few articles, it's clear that after 5 episodes, production has been taking a break. Most think it is either a break for writers to catch up, or NBC is considering putting off the premiere. We do not know what this means for the premiere date and/or the future of the show, this is just all of the information at the moment. More will become clear as more information comes out.

Hello (again maybe). Some of you may know me formerly as "The Event Fan Central", but since that show was axed by NBC I decided that making a "fan central" was quite fun and should do it again.

So this blog is dedicated to NBC's new show Awake, which is scheduled to premiere sometime in March. For those of you who haven't heard of Awake, or have not seen the trailer, I have attatched NBC's official trailer below.

You can also follow me on Twitter (@AwakeFanCentral) and on Facebook (Awake Fan Central).
